I did a blog about this back in May 2018. And I did the same for this year.

With the Covid-19 situation and the circuit breaker ruling in place, many businesses are affected. They are seeing a drop of 70-80% in terms of sales and customers. Even, my mom’s food stall in Toa Payoh is also affected.

Is it still working when you partner Google Forms with Facebook ads?

I did a blog about this back in May 2018. And I did the same for this year.

With the Covid-19 situation and the circuit breaker ruling in place, many businesses are affected. They are seeing a drop of 70-80% in terms of sales and customers. Even, my mom’s food stall in Toa Payoh is also affected.

Quite a number of food stall owners came to me and seek my advice. This is what I told them.

What Is The Formula?

#1 - Create A Google Form To Collect Orders.

#2 - Boost Post on Facebook and Promote Post on Instagram on a budget of $10 a day for 10 days.

#3 - Create another campaign for the next 10 days so that Facebook can give us another alternate audience sampling.

Believe it or not, these stall owners are seeing good results which are really helpful in this trying times.

They are seeing a Return On Ad Spent of 16-20 times. That means, for every $1.00 they invested, they are seeing $16.00 in return.

For Mariyam, she is a bit different because she attended my full-day workshop back in 2017. When I was an in house Facebook Ads trainer with Oumiworks, then. So she has the basics of running Facebook ads via laptop.

What is the main benefit of duplicating Ad Set?

Simply, we have more audience sampling to test and show our ads at any point of time compared to having only 1 Ad Set.

So you should be making 1 Campaign - 2 Ad Sets - 2 Ads.

Imagine you have 1 big circle representing your total audience size based on your interests targeting options you have selected.

Within that 1 big circle, there are 2 small circles. And these 2 small circles are representing your 2 ad sets. Compared to having 1 small circle in 1 big circle.

You will get more advantage when you couple this Ad Set Duplication technique with Campaign Budget Optimization (CBO).

Why?

CBO is a feature that will help you to find the biggest opportunity at the lowest costs.

If you are only making 1 Ad Set, this CBO feature will not work.

In order CBO feature to work effectively, it needs a reference. That's why 2 ad sets are needed, the very minimum.

1 Campaign - 2 Ad sets - 2 Ads

How this works?

Let's say you allocate a lifetime budget of $500. (Please, you do need consider to calculate a min $5 budget daily per ad set. Meaning, with a ad budget of $500, your ad can run for a maximum of 50 days.)

So...let's say today, Ad Set #1 and Ad Set #2 is being allocated $5 each AND it appears that Ad Set #1 has better performance, Facebook will allocate more budget to Ad Set #1 the next day.

- Whenever there is a potential of a Ad Set to perform better, Facebook will allocate more budget accordingly. Now, Facebook works harder for you.

The 5 Pillars To Facebook Ads

✅ Step 1 - TRAFFIC 📈
- We need the traffic to show our offer.
- That's why some of us are investing in paid advertising, some of us are posting more and more. And some of us are posting and praying that someone will buy.

Recently, I received a training email from Ben Malol He is iust one of the many FB Experts that I draw inspirations and learn from.

He shared his 5 Pillars to Facebook Ads AND I find it - SPOT ON. Suddenly, whatever I have been doing all these while. It made sense and it made me realized that I have been doing them all along.

So what are the 5 Pillars?

✅ Step 1 - TRAFFIC 📈
- We need the traffic to show our offer.
- That's why some of us are investing in paid advertising, some of us are posting more and more. And some of us are posting and praying that someone will buy.

✅ Step 2 - CONVERSIONS 🤝
- The basic formula of online/digital advertising is TRAFFIC + OFFER = CONVERSIONS.
- We need to see conversions. That's the reason why we need to do Step 3 to see more conversions or to see some changes.

✅ Step 3 - TWEAKING / OPTIMIZING ✍
- If we do not see any conversions, we need to tweak. This is where all the hard work and patience has to come in. Some of us might just give up after 1 month of ad spent and tweaking. But there are many who still want to make it happen. They make changes to encourage more conversions.
- This step can take days or even months to find the sweet spot.

✅ Step 4 - Scale Up / Scale Down 🔆
- Once we started to see conversions, of course, we want MORE.
- So we need to double our efforts and ad spent.
- For some, it means Scale Down in terms of ad spent. This way, we can stretch our dollars.

✅ Step 5 - Branding 🌐
- Once we are able to find a way to generate leads and sales, we do not have to worry where we will get our revenue. By then, we already have a system that works. An offer that people want.
- So now, we have the time to develop our branding further.
- I do acknowledge that branding is important BUT I have seen people who spent $20k on just branding and they are struggling to recover back that $20k investment in 6 months.

How Is This Facebook Algorithm Works + Why You Should Invest In FB Ads

You keep sending our request new friends to people you barely know.
- You are doing this because you want to increase your “network”.
- You are hoping that every time you post your offer on your personal profile, they can get to see it. The more friends you have, the bigger the exposure.

WRONG !!!!

Bear with me here. I just want to pen my thoughts and understanding about Facebook algorithm that is affecting yours and my organic reach on Facebook for our posts.

THE NUMBER 1 AND THE BIGGEST MISTAKE THAT YOU MAY BE MAKING

#1 - You keep sending out request new friends to people you barely know.
- You are doing this because you want to increase your “network”.
- You are hoping that every time you post your offer on your personal profile, they can get to see it. The more friends you have, the bigger the exposure.

WRONG !!!!

If you are doing this, I would say please STOP. You are just wasting your time.

There will be a potential of 1500+ stories that we can be exposed to. This includes from our friends, family and FB Ads.

  • But how many stories can we consume in our single Facebook single session?

  • Can we consume all 1500 stories in 20 minutes?

That’s why our Facebook News Feed displays an average of 300 stories and that includes your friends’ posts.

So think about it, you have 5000 friends but you simply cannot see all 5000 posts from your friends just because of the Facebook algorithm mentioned above.

We want more people to see our offer so that we can make more sales, isn’t it?

FACEBOOK IS COMMITTED IN PROVIDING A MEANINGFUL EXPERIENCE FOR YOU

I believe in your friends network, you are bound to have House Agents Friends. I can bet with you that almost 70% of their posts are content about House On Sale or houses they are promoting. Sooner or later, they will not appear in your news feed.

Why? Because of these below

The News Feed algorithm responds to signals from you, including, for example:

  • How often you interact with the friend, Page, or public figure (like an actor or journalist) who posted

  • The number of likes, shares and comments a post receives from the world at large and from your friends in particular

  • How much you have interacted with this type of post in the past

  • Whether or not you and other people across Facebook are hiding or reporting a given post

That should explain why you are not seeing posts from certain friends.

WHY YOU SHOULD INVEST IN FB ADS?

With all these limiting organic reach, don’t you think you should be investing in FB Ads?

Let’s keep things simple.

Online marketing or Digital Marketing or Social Media Marketing, in its simplest form and formula, you need TRAFFIC + OFFER = RESULTS.

You have an OFFER. All you need is a substantial volume of TRAFFIC and FB Ads can help you to get that volume. And you should be able to see the RESULTS. Based on that results, it should spur you to take further actions.

Recently, I went for a family holiday to Kuala Lumpur. And you know Kuala Lumpur is shopping and eating heaven.

Just days before I left for Kuala Lumpur, I came across a TV documentary on the Astro Channel. They were covering Beard Brothers' BBQ.

I am a meat person. So, I decided that I want to go to this place and try out. Boy, I wasn't disappointed. It was so good and yummy.

Can you imagine their fork and spoons were made from ice-cream sticks? That tells you a lot about their meat tenderness.

At the same time, I took the opportunity to make a 1-minute video about the place.

👍 I will break it down for you how I do it. I even do this for my own clients.

** Do take note that the establishment DO NOT engage me to do this video. I am doing this out of my own. And I just want to let you know that you should visit this place when you are in Kuala Lumpur.

🎥 So how to go about doing a 1-minute video?

Here is the format.

🔥 FIRST 3-10 SECONDS

- This is very crucial. You want to qualify your audience early in the video so that they can qualify themselves whether they want to continue watching the video.

- Usually, here is where you are going to tell what is the video is all about.

- With this in place, you are saving your audience time and if you are investing in Facebook ads, you are maximizing your every dollar spent.

🔥 NEXT 10-40 SECONDS

- Here comes the content. What is so good about this place? What is so good about your services and products offered? What are the benefits of buying your products?

- Within this time frame, you need to share the VALUES and BENEFITS of your products and services.

- Don't waste time with spectacular effects/transitions.

- Focus and Share your VALUES / BENEFITS.

🔥 LAST 10-20 SECONDS

- You need to CLOSE your video.

- You need to tell people what you want them to do. In this video, I posted the address of the establishment.

- In a way, if they want to check out the place, they already have the information they wanted.

- Alternatively, we can do with Call To Action - "Call Us Today For Reservations"

Trust me. It is doable.

Stop thinking about yourself. Start thinking what your audience wants!

3 Changes That You MUST Apply To Your Facebook Ads In 2019

- The more you post, the lesser exposure you get on top of the 2-6% audience reach limitation imposed. 
- Ultimately, you need to understand that it is not an ideal user experience if Facebook were to share or promote every single post to every single Facebook page like you have. That will be considered as spamming. Do you like spamming?

What 3 changes can you do for your paid Facebook marketing efforts in 2019?

If you have 2-3 minutes to spare, you may want to consider reading my 3 changes you need to make for 2019.

What can you do?
- Allocate $250 as a starting budget on a monthly basis to supplement your organic reach and marketing efforts. 
- Start focusing on QUALITY posting rather and QUANTITY. Quality posting that can make a difference to your audience even putting a smile on their faces. 
- Take a look at your data and figure out which day to post or which day tends to have a higher engagement and outreach. Based on that data, develop a schedule that you can be consistent for the next 6 months.

 

#2 - STOP CREATING FACEBOOK ADS USING HANDPHONE. 
- Why? Because you are NOT maximizing the Facebook interests targeting capabilities. 
- Try asking your circle of friends who are making FB ads. Ask how many of them are using the INCLUDE / EXCLUDE function when comes to interests targeting. 
- I can bet only less than 20% are doing that. Meaning, the remaining 80% are targeting the same group of people. If you are not using the Include / Exclude option, you and them are fighting for attention over the same group of people. It is bloody!

What can you do?
- Develop the habit to create ads using PC or laptop. Pick a time either at night or morning. Only use 1 hour to create your ads. Make sure you make the start date 2-3 days later. This to provide time allowance for Facebook to approve your ads. 
- Start using the INCLUDE / EXCLUDE option in your interests targeting. 
- What does this really means?
- Example, I can show to a different audience set than you. Let's say, you are targeting Honda. But I am targeting people who like Honda AND Yamaha. This way, I will not be competing for the same audience as you.

#3 - KEEP YOUR INTERESTS TARGETING BETWEEN 3-9 INTERESTS. 
- Simply because close to 90% of people that I met in 2018, they are targeting so many interests BUT they only ran their ad for 5 days, 3 days, 7 days, etc. 
- Imagine this, on your dining table, there 27 different types of tea of 330ml each but you only have 1 min to finish all 27 teas. What will you do?


What can you do?
- If you want to target so many interests, can. There is no issue as long as you allow your ad to run 3-5 days more. Example, you are targeting 21 interests, you have to allow your ads to run for 24 days. This allows Facebook to optimize and find the highly responsive audience for you.

14 July 2018 - A Huge Milestone

I would like to begin this blog post by telling the whole world that I TAUGHT MY 100TH PARTICIPANT. 

I could not have imagined that I could do it when I first started my first Make Your Own Facebook Ads workshop back on 29 August 2015.

Brutal truth is YES. 

YES, if you cannot identify which Facebook Ads that is not successful.

In my workshops, I would always shared that instead of using the word LOSE, replace that word with TEST

We need a certain amount for TESTING our audience sampling. 

HOW DO I DO THAT ?

Simple. Your first $25.00. 

Your first $25.00 MUST always gives you 50 engagements OR link clicks. If your Facebook Ads can't give you that results, that particular Facebook Ad has a bad audience sampling and you must stop it. 

Duplicate the same campaign and run it again for another $25.00. 

After running and managing Facebook Advertising budget close to $50000, this simple technique helps me to have a higher chance of success rates for myself and my clients.
